Tell us about yourself:
I moved to Queenstown from Auckland 8 years ago to study at the Queenstown Resort College. My internship there brought me to the Food & Beverage department at Millbrook Resort and I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to move into the Reservations team. Since moving to Queenstown, I met my now husband and we have recently celebrated 1 year being in our newly built house. Baking is my hobby, particularly cake making and decorating. I like to spend my spare time with friends, family, and volunteering at my local church.
What does your typical day at Millbrook look like?
The Reservations team looks after all accommodation enquiries and bookings that are received. I am responsible for the team of four that I help where required. Different situations present themselves everyday, whether that is a new enquiry we haven't had before or a guest complaint. Majority of my day consists of actioning any emails I receive. However, my days vary depending on what's going on at the resort. Sometimes I am working on packages, revenue management, and projects that involve many departments such as refurbishing the rooms.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the people I work with and the variety the role offers. There are many things to learn and you get to be part of making someone's stay special and contribute to Millbrook's "nice place for nice people" culture. There are also lots of opportunities to grow and expand your knowledge and skillset.
What is it that makes Millbrook so special?
Millbrook is a very unique place and I love that we aspire to create a special experience for each of our guests.
What is the best advice you've ever been given?
Don't let the day end with conflict unresolved.
Cats or dogs?
Neither really, but if I had to choose, dogs.
Favourite movie?
She's the Man, or any cheesy chick flick.
Favourite place in the world?
So far, Lake Tekapo.
Favourite food?
French toast.
