Unsure about when to visit Millbrook? We’ve put together some tips about which season to explore Queenstown and the surrounding area.

Summer
December through February

With longer daylight hours, warmer temperatures and an exciting holiday buzz around Queenstown, summer is one of the most popular times to visit Millbrook. During this time of year, we offer additional on-site experiences like our Kitchen Garden Tour and Live Music at Smithy’s. It is the perfect time for a day of golf topped off with a cold beverage at Smithy’s Smoke House.

As this is such a popular time to stay with us, it is important to book your visit in advance, so you don’t miss out. Advance bookings for on-site experiences like The Spa, golf and dining are also essential.

Autumn
March through May

There is something incredibly special about autumn at Millbrook. The trees are painted with hues of yellow, orange and red and you may be lucky enough to see a dusting of snow on the Remarkables Mountains. As this is a shoulder season in Queenstown, you are also blessed with quieter streets, trails and less tourists around.

A must-do in autumn is to visit neighbouring Arrowtown for a lovely walk along the Arrow River Trail. Bring your camera as the colourful leaves and peaceful streams are a sight you will want to share.

Winter
June through August

If you have yet visited us in winter, this is a must. Being a ski resort town, Queenstown comes to life in the winter.

Go for a day ski to nearby Coronet Peak or The Remarkables, then soak in our spa pools at the Health & Fitness Centre or relax with a luxurious massage at The Spa. Top off your perfect day with a pre-dinner mulled wine or whiskey at Smithy’s Smoke House, followed by a delicious dinner at Kobe Cuisine, The Millhouse or The Hole in One Café. Whatever you fancy, you can do it all right here.

We can also organise your snow gear and return transport to the mountains, which you will want to take advantage of. Find out more in our Queenstown’s Winter Wonderland post here.

Spring
September through November

As winter comes to an end, the temperature starts to warm up, the trees grow leaves again and the flowers awaken from their slumber - all making for breathtaking scenery. As the ski fields close, spring is also an excellent time to visit without too many people around so you can enjoy these views all to yourself.

This is also the perfect time to bring the kids on a family getaway with all the newborn animals around the resort. Fluffy ducklings glide across the lakes and streams, baby lambs frolic in the fields and purple lupins dot the fields – it’s a stunning time to explore!

No matter what time of year you decide to visit us, there is so much to see and do at Millbrook Resort. If you have any questions about booking your stay, email us at reservations@millbrook.co.nz.
