Why did you decide to become a Personal Trainer?

Through a challenging time in my earlier years, I started to go to the gym. I didn’t have much knowledge or experience and I had no confidence in what I was doing. I pushed myself to continue because of how I felt after exercise, this was my ‘why’ showing up to every workout I planned for myself. I began to take further interest in movement and read online articles and research to try new exercises. My confidence grew immensely. I was working in a customer facing role at the time and I decided to study part time to become a qualified Personal Trainer. It is and has been the best decision I have made; it has changed my life! I now use my passion to help others see what they are truly capable of and to live a better quality of life for both mental and physical health.

What areas do you specialise in?

Strength and muscular endurance, flexibility and mobility, cardiovascular fitness, prenatal and postnatal care as well as overall wellbeing.

What do you love about your job?

My job allows me to work with people from all walks of life. I enjoy building relationships, understanding my clients’ goals, and setting the footwork in place to achieve this. I love seeing my clients taking ownership, believing in their abilities and accomplishing their goals and targets.

What are your greatest strengths as a Personal Trainer?

I am committed, highly motivated and organised. I am adaptable with my clients’ needs. I deliver every session with passion and care. I am patient and will always encourage and motivate you until you get it right. I invest in learning every year to further my knowledge and become the best trainer I can be.

What advice would you give to someone starting Personal Training?

Begin with an open mind and heart. Listen to instruction. Ask questions. Prepare to work hard. Enjoy your journey. You are investing in yourself; personal training will change your outlook on health and fitness. Continue to show up even on the days it seems too hard. Aim to be a little bit better each day. Practice makes perfect.

Name two of your favourite exercises and state why you chose those exercises.

Deadlifts - they are a great full body exercise that builds strength inside and out.
Breathwork - correct breathing patterns allow you to maintain a strong, stable core. When we breathe properly, we encourage good posture, enabling the body to function better.

How do you motivate yourself to achieve your health and fitness goals?

I schedule time in my diary to work on my health and fitness goals. I believe it is important to practice what you preach. I aim to move my body every day, big or small, refilling my cup so I can give my clients the best version of myself.

Please give a motivational quote or mantra.

“There is magic in movement, yes, movement is medicine” – Michael D’ Aulerio
