The award-win tops off a stellar year for the five-star luxury lifestyle resort.
Announced in front of representatives from some of the golf world’s most prestigious golf courses, resorts, hotels and tourism operators, the award adds to the resort’s impressive trophy cabinet this year.
Part of the World Travel Awards, known as the Oscar’s of the travel industry, this is the first year the golf awards have been held as a separate event in order to give the industry its chance to shine.
Award nominees and subsequent winners were awarded accolades based on votes from tourism and industry peers which were counted throughout the last 12 months.
Millbrook Resort head of operations Brian Howie said winning the inaugural title of Oceania and New Zealand’s Best Golf Hotel was “hugely rewarding”.
In the last four years we’ve consistently won the title of Australasia and New Zealand’s Best Golf Resort. To continue this good run with the new awards and to be recognised as best-of-the-best in front of our golf tourism peers is important to us, he said.
Over the last 12 months especially, we’ve invested in the resort’s facilities supporting our mission to provide the very best guest journey we possibly can.
Just last month the team accepted the title of New Zealand’s Leading Spa Resort at the World Travel Awards.
Anticipating our guest’s every need, offering the best in luxury, staying ahead of technology and ensuring we go above and beyond expectations ensures we continuously receive exceptional guest feedback, said Mr Howie.
Our guests come from all over the world in search of something a little different and to immerse themselves in the peace and tranquillity of our surroundings. From a spa weekend to a golf day, or just some time out from day-to-day life, Millbrook has it all, he said.
Millbrook also confirmed the purchase of 66 hectares of neighbouring farmland which could significantly expand the property and potentially see the resort upgraded from its current 27-hole layout to a full two-course layout.
While the resort’s realty arm continues to go from strength-to-strength.
This week Millbrook Resort builder AJ Saville Builder won the coveted ‘Showhome of the Year’ award at the New Zealand Registered Master Builders 2014 House of the Year awards.
AJ Saville is known for its stylish and exceptional craftsmanship and is responsible for crafting 44 homes at Millbrook. The win, for Millbrook’s show-home in Taramea Square, reinforces the resort’s status as a premium, quality resort to live and stay.
Millbrook will also play co-host to the BMW New Zealand Golf Open for the second consecutive year in 2015, cementing its position as one of the world’s best golf resorts.
Millbrook is proud to co-host this prestigious event and next year’s tournament – which will be televised around the world – is set to grow exponentially, exposing Millbrook, The Hills and Queenstown to the world, said Mr Howie.
The owners and entire Millbrook team feel excited heading into 2015 and what will hopefully be another fantastic year for us, our guests and visitors. If it’s anything like 2014, we’ll be over the moon, he said.
World Golf Awards managing director Chris Frost said Millbrook “truly deserved golf tourism’s highest accolade” which rewarded the luxury resort’s commitment to excellence and determination to become the undisputed market leader.
Votes came from across the globe for Millbrook Resort which is testament to its position as a world-class brand and hotel, he said.
Long may Millbrook continue to be head of the pack when it comes to offering quality, five-star accommodation within a golf resort environment.
Millbrook is pure luxury set in unprecedented, heavenly scenery combining the ultimate in sport tourism, said Mr Frost.
