The Pink Ribbon Breakfast is a community event dedicated to raising essential funds for The Breast Cancer Foundation. These contributions support education, research, patient support and other crucial efforts to eliminate breast cancer. Many organisations across New Zealand come together around this time of year to host events (usually a breakfast, lunch, or dinner) that help raise these funds.
Following the success of last year’s breakfast at Millbrook Resort, we were eager to host this event again. This year, our Executive Sous Chef, Tracey Alderton, took lead in organising the brunch. Having personally experienced the impact of breast cancer in her family, Tracey has been dedicated to planning this event for the past few months. Many other Millbrook team members also hold this cause close to their hearts, and we believe the community shares this sentiment.
This year, we turned it into a Pink Ribbon bubbly quiz brunch, where guests formed teams of four and participated in a “Believe It Or Not” trivia quiz. Between quiz rounds, guests enjoyed nibbles from an amazing brunch buffet, prepared by Millbrook’s kitchen team who did an excellent job in creating pink-themed treats and baked goods. There was also a silent auction featuring items from local suppliers, such as Royalburn, Altitude, Glacier Southern Lakes, Scape Grace and many more.
Most importantly, the afternoon provided an opportunity for guests to connect and, if they chose, find comfort in discussing what is usually a difficult topic for many.
This years Pink Ribbon brunch raised just over $4,300, all of which will go towards this wonderful cause.
